HALLOWEEN DANCE PARTY & COSTUME CONTEST:

People Credit Union's HALLOWEEN DANCE PARTY & COSTUME CONTEST was held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Ballard Park. Close to two hundred people showed up to enjoy the event which feature spooky tunes by DJ Butch, giveaways from People’s Credit Union and the Newport Police Department, a crafts table and a costume parade and contest.

Celebrity judges included Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed, Newport Mayor Jeanne Marie Napolitano, Kiki Finn and People’s Credit Union Newport branch manager, Lori Marshall. The Newport Sweet Shoppe made beautiful gift baskets filled with Halloween treats that were awarded to the winners.

Dressed as a strawberry, Lucy Loyola, 9 months of Newport, won an award in the cutest category as did Lucy & Penny Condella, 2 years old from Newport, for their astronaut outfits.

Max Eldert, 5, of Portsmouth took a scariest costume award while The Murphy Family of Newport were a big hit as the Minions garnering them a most original award.

Several winners from last year retained their titles - Julianna Souza, 10, and Kaitlyn Souza, 8, of Newport won a scariest award for their puppeteer and puppet costumes.

Brewer Powers, 4, of Middletown scored high marks for his Sponge Bob attire in the the most original category.

The event was sponsored by Bartlett Tree Experts, The Newport Sweet Shoppe and Teresa Paiva Weed for Senate.
