About MOVIES ON THE ROCKS
Newport's first “Green Drive-In” debuted in Ballard Park's Quarry Meadow in 2006. Each Summer Friends of Ballard Park hosts outdoor movie screening reminiscent of the days of the drive-in ... only its totally green - no cars or gas needed and lots of green space!

Movie goers are invited to bring a blanket or lawn chair and picnic dinner to Ballard Park's three acre quarry meadow and enjoy a night at the movies. Thanks to generous sponsors MOVIES ON THE ROCKS is another free series offered in Newport's Only Nature Preserve.

(FBP) hosted four movies as part of its 2016 MOVIES ON THE ROCKS series at Ballard Park. Eight hundred twenty eight (828) people attended the series. The biggest turnout was Karate Kid on August 24th. Students from Newport Martial Arts gave a demonstration prior to the movie. Newport Community Police Officer Joshua Wildes was on hand to talk to kids.

Weather forced us to postpone the screening of Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade by one evening. There were 140 people on hand for the film.

We also screened Dirty Dancing and the series opened with Hotel Transylvania.

E-mail us your suggestions for future movie screenings.
